Just to keep you up on what is happening in the world--in the long run you'll be happy you were kept in the know! Right after the elections in November (the Democratic Party did very well, becoming the majority party--that means there are more Democrats than Republicans--in the Senate and the House of Representatives) President Bush said that his Secretary of Defense (Donald Rumsfeld) would be stepping down. The Secretary of Defense oversees the war in Iraq and things haven't been going well. So President Bush chose a new person to lead the war, Robert Gates. He starts his new job as Secretary of Defense today. Gates's last job was being the president of a university. Submitted by Fact Monster on Sun, 2006-12-10 22:48.

Well, since my favorite Red Sox did not make even the playoffs this year I had to pick a team to follow through the post season and the St. Louis Cardinals were it! And they won baseball's World Series in five games. Excellent. I do love birds (I can fly as well) thus the Cardinals remained my favorite team. And while I'm on the subject of baseball, did you know that the first World Series was played between Pittsburgh and Boston in 1903 and was a nine-game series. Boston won the series 5-3. Oh, dear Boston . . . Submitted by Fact Monster on Mon, 2006-10-30 18:44.
