Girls 6-10

Have you read Charlotte's Web yet? When I was younger my dad read me Charlotte's Web, Stuart Little, and the Trumpet of the Swan, all by E.B White. Great reads and did you know that a new Charlotte's Web movie is coming out in December? It's a good time to read the book so you can compare the book with the movie, a favorite pastime of mine. What a great idea, read a book over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm serious.

Anyway, my friend Shmuel wrote this quiz for me. After you read the book try his Charlotte's Web, the book quiz.

Now that the weather is getting colder, it's time to start thinking about how to survive various winter dangers, like, what should you do if your tongue gets stuck to a pole? I, of course, have the answer for you.

Do not try to quickly pull your tongue off the pole—you'll rip it! Instead, move your hands (they should be in gloves!) over the pole near your tongue. This should warm the pole enough to let you slowly pull your tongue off. If warm water is nearby, splash it over your tongue to thaw it. Don’t put cool water or your saliva over the area: they will both freeze, making the situation stickier.

My dentist says, "Eat all the candy you can on Halloween night. Brush your teeth really well and then don't eat any more of that sugary stuff!" Party pooper. When I was a kid I was allowed to eat one piece a night after dinner until it was all gone. I have a friend whose parents buy all her candy from her!!!

What would happen if you ate all the candy you wanted every day? We know that wouldn't be good.

Vote in the candy-eating style poll and tell me how you finish off your Halloween takings.

Are you going to dress up in a scary costume this year? Are you going to be a witch or a ghost? Vote for the scariest costume and see what other kids think is the scariest disguise for Halloween on the newest Fact Monster poll.
